Via Vega Vineyard & Winery is a hidden gem in the Estrella District of Paso Robles—authentically rooted in small‑scale, no‑spray farming since its founding in 1998. This family‑run estate, helmed by winemaker Larry Gomez and his wife April, focuses on what they call “sincere wine making”: respecting vintage and varietal by aging estate-grown reds—such as Aglianico, Cabernet Franc, Grenache, Syrah, Touriga Nacional, and Zinfandel—for 30 months in barrel and another year in bottle before release. The tasting experience—strictly by reservation—is an intimate sit-down with the winemaker, held in a laid‑back environment featuring an air‑tiki bar and big‑screen “Vega‑Tron.” Reservations are essential, and Larry and April are known for their warm hospitality and deep knowledge—creating an accessible yet enriching experience for wine lovers.

Beyond its core lineup, Via Vega stands out for its unique events and community focus. The winery produces an “October Series” celebrating Día de los Muertos with fun, skeleton-themed labels and hosts an educational port-and-cheese pairing in January. They also give back through a special “ZOO” series, where proceeds support Conservation Ambassadors and often include live animal visits at the vineyard—making each tasting memorable and meaningful. With an in-house bottling line, extended barrel aging, and roughly 1,200 annual cases sold only on-site or via club membership, Via Vega offers an authentic Paso Robles experience—underpinned by craftsmanship, character, and community.
